  • What can you expect from PE Dance at Summit:

    • You can expect to learn 2 to 4 different genres of dance a year, ranging from Hip-Hop to Brazilian Samba.
    • You can expect to learn basic principles of choreography based on the Elements of Dance checklist.
    • You can expect to work hard. While PE Dance is drastically different from Regular PE, it is not easier. Full body conditioning is a normal part of every dancer’s routine up to and including a 7 minute, choreographed stretching routine, push-ups, sit-ups, barre work and ballet.
    • You can expect one to two fitness type workouts a week. We will normally do Zumba or Yoga on these days.
    • You can expect to learn basic principles of Nutrition on Wednesdays (our minimum day).
    • You can expect to dress out in Summit colors (Navy blue, black, white, or grey) any combination of leggings, full t-shirts, regular PE shorts, tennis shoes or barefoot. A good sports bra or compression shorts are strongly recommended. Sweats may be worn over PE clothes when appropriate.

    What PE Dance is not:

    • It is not a “School Dance.”
    • It is not a time to just hang out and socialize with your friends.
    • It is not “Free Time” to just listen to music and “freestyle” or be on your phones.

While PE Dance is FUN, it is not EASY. Please be prepared to work hard and get out of your comfort zone!!!
