A Message From Our Locust Elementary School Nurse

  • A Message from Your School Nurse,

The ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ School Nurses value the health and well-being of our students, staff and families.  We work throughout the year to promote healthy schools.  These are certainly challenging times filled with uncertainty and concern that are impacting our entire community and our country.  The governor, the state superintendent of public instruction and our superintendent of schools have made it clear that the safest place to be is home during the COVID-19 pandemic and have called for school district closures.

I am coordinating with our principal, Mrs. Colon, to determine when and how student’s school medication and supplies can be picked up for use at home.  Medications at school will continue to be locked and secured during our school closure.  In a normal schoolyear we ask that parents pick up the medication before the end of the school year or it may be discarded but these are not normal times.  I ask that you consider leaving medications and especially “as needed medications” at school until our campuses reopen.  Medications at school will continue to be locked and secured during our school closures. The medications WILL NOT be discarded at the end of the school year.  When school reopens, we can make arrangements for the return of your child’s medication.

Because of possible changes in your child’s health needs, new medication orders from your child’s physician will be required if you want to continue to have medication administered at school for the 2020-2021 school year.  I am attaching the FUSD medication forms and medication policy.

If you have any questions about medication, please reach out to me by email and the school principal, Mrs. Colon.

    Thank You,

Ms. Joyce Farmer, BSN, RN, MBA

    Credentialed School Nurse
