What is PBIS?
-
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a nationwide program designed to create an atmosphere of continuity across campus. It is an evidence-based tiered framework that encourages and promotes a safe and positive learning environment for students in and out of the classroom. The proactive approach focuses on identifying, teaching, and reinforcing positive student behaviors to improve students' overall academic, social, emotional, and mental health.
Kaiser High School staff work collectively to implement school-wide expectations that encourage all students to be Compassionate Academic Trustworthy CATs. We want every student to feel supported and successful at Kaiser High School. Creating a community with similar agreed-upon values will help build our students and school climate to foster better citizens.

What does this look like in the classroom?
Classrooms will be teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors that will bypass the idea of punishment for consequences that are restorative, fair and equitable. The focus will be on rewarding positive behaviors that can frequently go unnoticed in a negative environment.
