Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide approach aimed at creating a positive and supportive learning environment. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviors to improve overall school climate. PBIS involves defining clear expectations for behavior, teaching these expectations to students, and consistently acknowledging and reinforcing positive behaviors. The goal is to create a school culture where students feel safe, engaged, and motivated to succeed, while minimizing disruptive behaviors. It emphasizes proactive strategies to prevent behavioral issues and provides a framework for addressing any challenges that may arise.
Here are our behavior expectations; we call these the Pacer Expectations:
Each area of our campus has a poster with the expectations posted. Below are all the expectations by area:
The Pacer Production video class has produced high-quality videos illustrating the expectations for each area around campus:
Scholars earn Pacer Points from any Staffulty member on our PBIS Rewards App. Once month they have the opportunity to purchase items from the Pit Stop or spend time in our Raceway Gameroom.
Behavior is classified as either minor or major. All minor behavior is handled by the Almond Staffulty and major behavior is handled by Administration. Below is our flow chart:
