Student's have various postsecondary options upon their graduation from A.B. Miller High School. Counselor's can assist students with understanding how to access these options.

4 Year University Overview

Most California Universities will require a student has met all of their graduation requirements and have completed all of their A-G Requirements with a C or better. Below are some helpful links:

California Community College

California Community College offer Career Technical Education Certifications, 2 Year Associate Degrees, and Associates Degrees for Transfer used to transfer to the University

California Trade Schools

There are various trade schools for careers such as Cosmetology, Pilot (Flight) School, Culinary programs, Dental and Medical Assisting, HVAC technician, Film School, Art School, Mechanic, or Welding, to name a few. 

It is highly suggested that when you seek after these programs, you research whether the institution has an acceptable accreditation, the cost of attendance, whether Federal Financial Aid can be used at that institution, and the percentage of graduates that are employed into their field upon graduating the particular program you are interested in. 

Military

Students who are interested in going into the Military have opportunities to sign up to take the ASVAB test on campus throughout the year. Those announcements are made through the daily announcements on the loud speaker, along with Messages on REMIND, through our Counseling office.

SAT tests

This is an acceptable college entrance exam for Universities in California, which is usually required as part of the University Application Process.

Students can register for the SAT tests, review and send scores by visiting the

The ACT exam is another acceptable college entrance exam for Universities in California, which can also be required as part of the University Application process, especially in the absence of SAT scores. ACT test registration, Score review and sending scores can be accessed through the .

Kahn Academy

Students in the ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ can study SAT Test Prep, AP test prep, along with studying for most academic subjects at the . They can also see additional curriculum on college and career, financial literacy, etc.

Financial Aid

There are various types of grants and scholarships available to students that do not have to be repaid. This money will help with college expenses. In order to take advantage of ANY type of assistance, including institutional grants for students who may or may not qualify, a FAFSA or Dream Act application is always required.

Most postsecondary institutions use the FAFSA/Dream Act outcome as a baseline to offer additional assistance, support, program eligibility, etc. Filling out the FAFSA application also lets a College know your family is seeking financial assistance, regardless of income.

**All Seniors at AB Miller are expected to complete their FAFSA or Dream Act application prior to March 2nd of their senior year.**

Undocumented Resources

AB 540 was a law that allows particular students to attend college and pay In-State tuition. See link for additional information.

Many Universities and colleges refer to undocumented students as "Dreamers". This is related to when California passed the Dream Act, allowing for students to be eligible for State Grant Money that doesnt have to be repaid, in order to attend college.

Career/College Exploration

Students can explore various careers and take personal inventories using our College and Career program, Naviance. Students will log in using their FUSD student ID for both the user name and password. Students can also build a resume and watch various videos providing them useful college and career education and information.
