- I forgot my staff laptop / My staff laptop is not working, may I borrow a student one?
No. Student laptops are not permitted to be given out to staff for any reason.
- Do you have a spare/replacement staff laptop I can use?
No.
- A student forgot their laptop can you give them one for the day?
No. Students are given ONE device and I do not have spares to loan for any reason.
- A student is testing, and they don’t have their laptop with them can you loan them one for the day?
No. Students are given ONE device and I do not have spares to loan for any reason.
- Can you loan me a student laptop to keep in my classroom to test/loan to students?
No. I am not able provide loaners for any reason. I do not have enough spares to loan out.
- A student forgot their charger, can you loan them one?
Teachers were given surge protectors and spare chargers intended to remain in the classroom. If you did not receive them, please let me know and I will do my best to get you some. The library does not loan chargers to students. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR CLASSROOM CHARGERS. Feel free to label your chargers with you ROOM NUMBER to keep track of them.
- A student lost/broke their charger, can they get a new one?
Yes, a $35.00 fine will be added to their account.
- Can a student buy another charger from the store and use it?
No. Using other chargers will cause damage to the laptops. Please have the student get a replacement from the library.
- A student broke their laptop/cracked their screen. What do they do?
The student may come to the library to swap the laptop. A fine may be assessed by the district later and added to the student’s account.
- A student lost their laptop. What should they do?
See the librarian for a replacement. The district will issue a replacement fine in the student’s account.
- A student had their laptop stolen, what should they do?
See the librarian for a replacement. The student/parent should also contact school police and file a police report, bring a copy to the library. If a police report is not filed and the librarian is not notified the laptop will be considered “lost” and a fine will be assessed in the student’s account.
- A student needs a Wi-Fi hotspot for home, what should they do?
Have the parent notify the front office they need to be added to the waitlist. Someone from the office will call them when one is available for the student to pick up from the library.
- A student was not given a laptop case, can they still get one?
Yes. If they were given a laptop last school year and were not able to pick up a case, they may come to the library before/ after school or at lunch to be issued a case.
- A student lost their laptop case, can they get a new one?
Yes, a $10.00 fine will be assessed in their account.
- A student needs earbuds or stylus, can you give them one?
Students were given one with their laptop case. The library does not provide extras. If the student did not get a case, please have them come to the library and they will be given the earbuds and a stylus too.
- A student tries to log in and they get an error saying the account is disabled, what should they do?
Have their parent sign the Annual Notification and Student Acceptable Use Agreement on Q parent connect. If they need assistance, have the parent contact the front office.
- A student tries to log in to the laptop and they get a lost or stolen image, what should they do?
The laptop has been marked as unaccounted for in the district inventory. Please see the librarian to update their record. Once that is done, the image will update overnight to a normal desktop.
- We are on campus now, why do we still have laptops?
FUSD is a 1 to 1 device district now, and had planned for all students to receive laptops prior to the pandemic.
- Do students need to turn in their laptops every school year?
No. Students will keep their laptops as long as they are enrolled at Ruble. Only 8th graders or students leaving Ruble will return their laptops at the end of the school year.
