Why did you become a librarian?
My dream was to be a teacher, but financially I couldn't afford school, so I became a bilingual aide here at Date Elementary. When the position for librarian opened here at Date, it was my next dream come true. I loved working with students and reading, so this was my perfect job. Being a second language learner, I know the importance of reading all kinds of books, magazines, articles, and anything that improves vocabulary.
What are your favorite books?
My favorite books are The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt, Miss Nelson is Missing by James Marshall, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, Click Clack Moo by Doreen Cronin, Pig the Pug by Aaron Blabey, Charlote's Web by E.B. White, Frindle by Andrew Clements, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, and so many more. It would be impossible to name them all.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors are Aaron Blabey, Mo Willems, Judy Blume, Doreen Cronin, Eric Carle, Ame Dyckman, Mem Fox, and Linda Sue Park.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I love to read Read Aloud books because they make the kids smile and laugh.
What books seem to be the most popular among the students here at Date?
The most popular books are the series books like Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park, My Weird School by Dan Gutman, Diary of the Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, Dog Man by Dav Pilkey, Pig the Pug by Aaron Blabey, and Goosebumps by R.L. Stine.
What is your favorite part about being a librarian?
My favorite part about being a librarian is seeing the kids enjoy my reading. I'm not the best reader, but I love to make them smile and laugh.
