Ms. Elena Zerbel, Principal

Ms. Zerbel was born and raised in Pomona and graduated from St. Lucy’s Priory High School in Glendora. She continued her education and earned both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Education from the University of La Verne. “My intention was to get a degree in business and took on a job as an instructional aide to earn extra money while attending college,” said Ms. Zerbel. “This ‘job’ as an instructional aide inspired me to change my major and to go into education. I haven’t looked back since.” She has worked in education for 26 years and served students in various positions. “I have been an elementary and middle school teacher, an assistant principal and principal at both the elementary and middle school level,” Ms. Zerbel continued.

Mrs. Karla Brewer-Edet, Assistant Principal

Karla Brewer-Edet began her educational career in the ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ in 2006 as a fifth-grade teacher at Randall Pepper Elementary. Mrs. Brewer-Edet spent seven years teaching in the district as both an elementary and middle school teacher before accepting the position as an Assistant Principal at Southridge Middle School in 2014.

Mrs. Brewer-Edet has received a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Riverside and a Master’s in Teacher Education from the University of Phoenix. After several years of teaching, she pursued her Master’s in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Service Credential from California State University, San Bernardino which she obtained in 2010.

Mr. Matt MacCallum, Dean of Students Supports

Mr. MacCallum was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he graduated high school from Cobequid Educational Eenter. He continued his education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology and Fine Arts from the University of New Brunswick and a Bachelor of Education degree from Acadia University.  

After moving to California in 2001, Mr. MacCallum began teaching 6th grade at Locust Elementary, where he remained for 13 years, before joining alder as a 7th and 8th grade math teacher in 2014. He continued on his educational journey, receiving his Masters of Arts in Teaching & Learning and Masters of Arts in Educational Administration from CSUSB. His teaching has taken him around the world teaching in Canada, South Korea, China, and Fontana.
