Library Program Guidelines for Staff
The library is a space that welcomes and encourages teachers to use for class/student projects, presenting lessons, as well as professional development in your PLCs.

With that said, effective planning is necessary to make adequate use of space and time. The following outlines procedures which will help to ensure that the needs of ALL can be met. -
Scheduling Classes for Research, Presentations, or Testing
The MUST be completed in order to schedule time in the library for research, presentations, or testing. This form can also be found on the library webpage.
- The request will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis unless we are closed for testing or specific events.
- Requests to use the library should be made at least one week in advance.
- Check the library calendar on our school library's home page before submitting a request so you know what dates and periods are available.
- If requested date/s and period/s is/are available, staff will receive a confirmation email from Ajaa Jones within 72 hours from the initial request date.
-
Passes/student ID requirements
If students are sent to the library from a class for any reason, they must have a pass (signed and dated) from their scheduled teacher during the period which they visit AND their student ID. This ensures that all students are where they are supposed to be according to their schedule, and they can be accounted for in case of an emergency. This applies to students who are coming in for laptop exchanges as well.
No more than THREE students from one class can be sent to use the library during a given class period. If more than three students from one teacher's class need to use the computers or work in the library during a given period, teachers will need to schedule their class following the procedures described above.
-
Library Computers and Student Laptops
- There are a limited number of student desktop computers available for use at one time with printing access (colored printing is not available.)
- Per district policy we are unable to check out a loaner laptop to a student should they forget their laptop at home.
- If a student forgets their laptop charger, they are to use one of the classroom chargers during their assigned class period. (Each classroom teacher should have picked up and signed for their 5 student laptop chargers and 1 surge protector)
- If a student loses their charger, the library will provide them with an additional charger and add the $35 replacement charger fee to the student's library account.
- Each student received a stylus, a set of earbuds, and a laptop sleeve the first time they checked out a laptop from Kaiser. If a student looses either of those three accessories, the library does not provide a replacement for them as they are not fineable items.
Laptop Exchanges
- Students who are still having laptop issues after they have tried troubleshooting can come to the library to exchange their laptop. For details on the laptop exchange process, visit the student laptop information section of the library webpage.
- During the school day- Students must have a pass signed and dated from their teacher.
Remember:
- Scheduled classes have priority of desktop computer usage and library space during the school day.
- Students must have a Student Acceptable Use Agreement on file in order to use any district computer. (this needs to be signed every year)
- Students must have a Laptop Distribution Agreement Form turned into the library to check out a district laptop.
- When signing on for the 1st time or after a student's password has been reset, they will use the following format to login-
- Username: student ID #
- Password: 8 digit birthdate and lowercase 1st initial (ex. 02052002k)
-
Computer Password Reset Procedures for Students
Should students need their computer password reset, any teacher on a student's schedule can reset it from their Q dashboard. Students who are sent to the library to have their passwords reset during class time will be sent back to class. Please see the computer password reset instructions. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to call or email the teacher librarian, Ms. Jones.

Textbooks/Technology Equipment
Please be aware that items checked out under a staff's name and account are their responsibility. This includes class sets and teacher editions.
- Make sure class sets stay in the class and notify the library staff of any damaged textbooks.
- DO NOT personally check out your class set of textbooks to students. Students are issued textbooks under their name and account.
- If you have a student who does not have a textbook, please inform them to check one out with their student ID card in the library.
- All textbook materials must be checked out through the library.
- DO NOT swap/loan teacher materials, or class sets. Notify the library staff if you need to check out/return barcoded library material or technology equipment.
*Some departments will be required to return teaching materials at the end of the school year*
Loaner Equipment
- Be sure to submit a work order to Heather Castillo informing her of your equipment issue.
- The school tech will communicate with you to determine how long it will take to repair your device and provide you a loaner if needed.
*The library no longer handles teacher laptops or any other technology equipment. Please refer to the site techs for questions or loaners.
