• EARNING A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

A high school diploma will help increase the number and type of opportunities available to you. The High School Diploma program allows you to complete the classes that you were unable to finish when you were in high school. To earn a high school diploma you must complete the current course of study as mandated by the State of California and current FUSD Board Policy for adult learners. You must earn at least 5 credits from Fontana Adult School during the final semester you are in school in order for you to establish residency. Bring an official, sealed copy of your school transcripts prior to enrollment so a member of our Guidance Team can provide a preliminary evaluation of your coursework. Before you complete your course of study, you must complete a "Petition to Graduate" so that a final evaluation of your transcripts can be completed prior to graduation to ensure current HS diploma requirements have been met. If you have questions about your progress, don't hesitate to schedule an appointment with a member of the Guidance Office. It is recommended you do this at least once a semester.

  •  Class Options

    Traditional Classes

Teacher provides in-person, direct instruction. You must enroll before the class starts and attend class each week for the entire term. You must attend class, complete assignments, tests and other course requirements with a passing grade to earn credit.

    CBI

Coursework is completed using an online program called APEX. Students must attend class at least 3 hours per week with an instructor. Tests must be completed under the supervision of an instructor. A computer and internet connection are required. This option provides greater flexibility for students. It is also possible to accelerate course completion by investing more time completing assignments online. These classes work best when students are self-motivated, and able to comprehend informational text written at a high school level.

    Concurrent College Enrollment

Students may complete college courses that satisfy high school graduation requirements while concurrently enrolled in high school diploma courses at Fontana Adult School. To learn more about these courses, consult with a member of the Guidance Team at Fontana Adult School.
