Meet Our Athletic Director: Coach Colbrunn

Coach Colbrunn is a proud alumnus of Fontana High School, class of 1993, and the son of two Fohi alums from the classes of 1966 and 1967. He was appointed as the Athletic Director at Fontana High School during the 2012-2013 school year while still serving as the Head Varsity Baseball Coach (2005-2014). His extensive coaching experience also includes roles as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach (2008-2009), JV Baseball Coach (1999), and Assistant Freshman Football Coach (1998). Additionally, he was part of the inaugural Football and Baseball coaching staffs at Kaiser High School (1999-2005).

During his time as a student at Fohi, Coach Colbrunn played Varsity Football and Baseball for the Steelers. He proudly contributed to the CBL Champion 1992 Football team that advanced to the CIF Semi-Finals and the 1993 CBL Champion Baseball team that reached the CIF Quarterfinals. A fun fact: Coach Colbrunn shares the honor of winning a CBL Baseball title with his father, whose team earned that distinction in 1966.

After graduating from Fohi, Coach Colbrunn earned his BA in Political Science from UC Riverside (1997). He then obtained his Single-Subject Teaching Credential in Social Sciences from National University (1999) and an MA in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine (2018). In addition to his tenure at Fontana High School, he has taught at Southridge Middle School and Kaiser High School.

Coach Colbrunn is incredibly proud to be part of Fohi Athletics’ rich tradition and its bright future. Every time our athletes take the field, it is another opportunity to show the world that STEELERS ATHLETICS IS PRIDE!
