  • The Fontana School Police Department (FSPD) is a State of California approved agency in accordance with the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) and the primary law enforcement agency for the ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ.

The Fontana School Police Department (FSPD) is a specialized School Police Department utilizing Patrol, School Resource Officers, K-9 Detection Unit, Bicycle Patrol, and Multi-Agency training in our tireless efforts to keep our students, their families, our staff, and property of the ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ (FUSD) safe and secure.

The department operates under a traditional law enforcement table of organization. Headed by a Chief of Police, the department has a Lieutenant and two Sergeants who oversee the operational and administrative duties of the agency. Motorcycle officers handle traffic-related concerns in and around our schools and School Resource Officers, that are assigned to our comprehensive high schools and middle schools, provide a high-profile police presence and an invaluable resource for students and staff.

FSPD is comprised of Sworn Police Officers, Non-Sworn personnel consisting of a Safety & Security Supervisor, District Safety Officer Leads, District Safety Officers (DSO), Dispatchers/Records personnel, Evidence Technician, Live Scan Clerk, and Civilian Support Staff dedicated to serving the District.

Unique to the FSPD team is the variety of assignments and services it delivers to its school community: the students and faculty at the schools, the employees of FUSD, and the communities in which the students live. Our Police Officers are assigned to the communities within the school district and actively patrol the surrounding areas. Our DSOs are also assigned to support school safety, parking, and facility protection. FSPD also shares jurisdiction and interacts with three different municipal and county law enforcement agencies, as well as state and federal law enforcement and emergency services agencies.

Our team is a progressive and forward-thinking organization that recognizes the important role of keeping children and students safe. FSPD personnel concentrate their policing efforts on improving daily campus safety and creating safe school passages for students, staff, and the school community. The goal of the FSPD team is to address the quality-of-life issues that impact student safety and the ability of the students and staff to enjoy a safe learning environment free from the fear of crime.

FSPD in partnership with FUSD also focuses on the restorative practices within our education community to have a positive impact on our at-risk youth in the district. We support this process with programs such as the Fontana Leadership Intervention Program (F.L.I.P.), the Junior F.L.I.P., and our Youth Court program.

Our team is also committed to ensuring a safe school community as we partner with local municipal law enforcement agencies, residential and business communities, faith-based organizations, and various non-profit community-service organizations.
