What is the Census?
Every 10 years, the country comes together to count every person living in the United States. The goal of Census 2020 is to count everyone once, only once and in the right place.
Why is the Census Important?
The census affects:
- Your voice in government. The census is used to reapportion the House of Representatives, determining how many seats each state gets
- The amount of funding California, San Bernardino County and the City of Fontana receives
- How the City of Fontana plans for the future
How Does the Census Benefit You?
Federal funds, grants and support to communities are based on population totals and other factors. The data is used to determine how states, counties and cities across the country will receive a share of more than $675 billion in funding per year. Funding is used for programs in education, transportation, public safety and much more.
